Job Opening: Corporate Tax Preparer

Schedule: Full time, Exempt
Location: Long Beach, CA

Job Description: Seeking a talented tax preparer with a wide-ranging skills and experience in preparing tax returns for business and individuals.

1. Preparation and filing of tax returns for all Westland Group entities including Corporations, S-Corporations, Partnerships, Individual, Fiduciary, Exempt Organizations, and Gift returns.
2. Final review of all returns based on established standards and electronically file all Federal and State returns on a timely basis.
3. Consult with management to develop a mutual understanding of the financial conditions and the scope of their tax knowledge and tax law application.
4. Review financial statements before preparing tax returns for all Westland entities to identify any missing or incomplete information as well as unrecorded transactions.
5. Review all source data of financial information for correctness and completeness.
6. Perform and calculate annual tax liabilities for all Westland entities and file disregarded entity’s tax returns for CA companies.
7. Manage, review and prepare the annual estimated taxes for federal and state before the tax due dates.
8. Communicate with in-house counsel and Executive management on a regular basis, especially during the heavy tax season for any and all related tax issues and regulations.
9. Maintains understanding and knowledge of tax law and software application by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses.
10. Analyze and compare source data for Westland investment portfolios and make necessary adjustments to prepare all related tax returns for filing.
11. Handle IRS and state authority inquiries, tax notices, and tax examinations.
12. Make final adjustment entries for each entity on the books after the tax return is completed.
13. Prepare annual shareholders distribution and trust loan payment schedule.
14. Review source data to make decisions related to corporate tax income reporting and deductions.
15. Have knowledge of job cost accounting and maintain the books for filing tax returns..

1. 5+ years experience in Accounting.
2. Previous experience with real estate accounting and finance.
3. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
4. Previous experience in Tax preparation.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
7. Ability to understand and apply tax laws and changes in the preparation process.
8. Excellent organizational skills and attention to details.
9. Accurate math and excellent accounting skills.
10. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
11. Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn tax accounting and preparation software (Lacerte Tax Software).
12. CPA license is a plus.

Compensation: $80,000 – $125,000 plus benefits.
