Job Opening: Science Specialist
Location: Beverly Hills, CA
Schedule: Monday 10:15 AM-3:40 PM, Tuesday-Thursday 8:30 AM-3:40 PM, Friday 8:30 AM-1:30 PM
Description:
Large Jewish private school seeks a science instructor who can assist students in understanding and applying scientific concepts and skills, prepare students for success in middle and high school science programs, and equip students to be problem solvers and have the ability to communicate and reason scientifically.
Duties:
1. Teach assigned Science courses
2. Develop and refine curriculum maps, lessons, and units of study that meet or exceed NGSS Standards.
3. Plan and coordinate science/nature-based trips
4. Supervise students in and out-of-classroom activities during the school day, including carpool, recess, and lunch supervisions
5. Attend and participate in all staff development, including staff orientation and professional development for both internal
6. Assess student progress and achievement using a variety of means to collect and report on academic data
7. Be in contact with parents and administrators in regard to student development.
8. Creation of a strong classroom culture that is developed through a Responsive Classroom approach.
Requirements:
1. Single-subject credential in either Life or Physical science.
2. Expertise in a range of science courses at the elementary or middle school level.
3. Interest in robotics is a plus
4. Loves working with children
5. Well organized and able to work with other teachers and administrators
6. Motivated and friendly personality.
7. Tech Savvy, experience with Google applications and iPads.
Compensation: $50,000-$60,000 plus benefits
